I have been sad lately that I haven’t been painting, so today I decided to stop being sad and just paint. Even if it’s not the greatest painting in the world or anything. So I took a barely finished sketch, printed it onto scrap paper and… painted.
Sketch onto scrap paper–yes, that is Iphigenia and her naga friend from the Lair by the Sea.
Decided I needed to stop and work on the naga, who is turning out more effeminate than I planned, but that’s okay. The face is so tiny I am using 3/0 brushes and taking off my glasses just to get the little pupils and gloss on her/his lips.
…and I stopped just short of it being done because it doesn’t look done but I’m not sure how I want to handle finishing it. But I put in a good hour and a half into this painting so far, and it was a lot of fun. It is seriously weird to do a picture for no other reason than because I felt like it. I can’t remember the last time I did that…! I will probably finish this one off next week and then (dutifully) start working on the cover for Mindline.
It needs a title. In my head it hovers between “Protective” and “My Naga.” Lol. I should put some more serious thought into it. :)
