Scheduling for the New Jokka Books

(Book Schedule for 2013, in Progress)

An anonymous commenter asked on my NaNo announcement post when Pearl in the Void would be available, which I thought was an excellent question and one many of you would like to know the answer to. So! My tentative plan is to have Pearl done in the next two months, and to publish in in Q1 of 2013. I may or may not do a Kickstarter to fund the e- and print editions; if I don’t do one in Q1 I will certainly do one later in the year to pay for the audiobook edition. Pearl’s protagonist is Keshul from “Fire in the Void” and I want the same narrator to do his voice in the novel.

I’m going to start writing Book 3 of the trilogy, tentatively titled A Bloom in the North, immediately on finishing Book 2. My hope is to have that done for a winter release in 2013, wrapping up the major storyline of the Jokka universe.

I’m also considering releasing a second collection to gather the remaining Jokka shorts (“Anadi Dolls,” “Unknowable,” “The Smell of Intelligence” and “Stone Moon, Silk Scarves”). Most of those are fairly long, so they’ll fill out a paperback nicely. If I decide to do that, I’ll probably aim for a mid-year release in 2013 to bridge the gap between Books 2 and 3 of the trilogy. That’ll be especially appropriate since “Stone Moon, Silk Scarves” technically falls in between Book 2 and Book 3.

I’ll need to ponder a new person to ask for a foreword for that one, though I really set myself up for a challenge in that respect by starting with a luminary like Susan! Maybe I should find a Nebula-award-winning author to do the next one, to go with the Hugo-award-winning editor. *laugh*

Oh wait, that’s a good idea. If you are one of those authors, or know one, pop me a note. >.>

But anyway. That’s the plan. For those of you who like bullets:

Spring 2013: Pearl in the Void
Summer/Fall 2013: (possible) Jokka Collection 2 (tentatively, Clays Upon the Sands)
Winter 2013: A Bloom in the North

And yes, I will do all that while running a biweekly web comic, a weekly serial, and various other stuff. Because I am mighty that way. Rar!
