It actually dropped under 75 degrees for a couple of days! Time for socks! (With sandals!)
Word of the Day
obnubilate, v. : becloud or obscure
As you might expect, from the Latin ob- (“in the way”) and nubes (“cloud”). Does not, in fact, mean “to make nubile,” which is how I read it while running past the word-a-day calendar that day.
Daughter at 5 Years
Yesterday, halfway around the neighborhood, Daughter abruptly said, “I have enough candy, Mommy. Let’s go home.”
“Are you sure?” I said. “There are more houses still, a lot more houses? You could get more?”
“No,” she said. “I really think I have enough.”
And she kept to that line all the way home. And after sorting all her candy, observed, “I have so much candy, Mommy. I think I will save it and give it to my friends at school. Because I can’t eat it all.”
…
I… have… no words… o_o
Oh wait, maybe one. Yay? Yay!
Creative News/Plans
Lots to do. Definitely want to try to finish up the cover for the Aphorisms this week… if possible. Everyone’s getting sick, which usually bodes ill for getting work done.
As I mentioned yesterday, I signed up on the NaNoWriMo site for a lark, since I was going to be writing Pearl anyway. Today I discovered Createspace will give you five free copies of your NaNo novel if you win. *cracks knuckles* Nothing incents a Jaguar like a good business reason to do something she wanted to do anyway. Five free books! I could save $25-ish in author costs! I’m there!

Elsewhere (The Pictures-that-tell-Stories Edition)
• James Gurney on “The End of the Song.” About paintings that encourage you to consider them as narratives (and ask questions about their endings). This is fun, go look at the painting. :)
• Cheetah Tree Photo. See, and this one needs a children’s book narrative to go with it!
Quote of the Day
Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. -Jim Ryun

YAY! for Child =)
And now I’m wondering how one would go about making something nubile…!
