Today I have done accounting and this has served as a painful reminder that, yes, I’m very glad I took the Day Job. I am still struggling with cognitive dissonance over financial reward vs. effort spent, but hey, it’s all fodder for the creative spirit! And on the bright side, I can breathe out and start seriously working on getting my backlist edited and out the door. I don’t have enough novels for sale; enough people tell me they prefer buying short stories as singletons for me to leave the up there, but novels are my bread-and-butter and I need to concentrate there for a while.
You can now subscribe to the Three Jaguars comic to help pay for jaguar kibble! There are weekly and monthly options. I encourage you to peek at that page because the drop-down boxes are silly and I hope they make people smile.
This weekend I also started catching up with comics work. We’re now scheduled out to mid-April and my next task is doing the remaining Kickstarter rewards. I hope to be done with those by early March.
My first-readers are starting to report back on Bloom, and it seems I’m not the only one who cried over it. From what I can figure, I think I made the ending work, so I am content. I’ll be preparing those for e-bookitude soon. I still have room for one or two more first readers, so if you want to take a look, drop me a line.
Earthrise is up to date on the archive site. If you’ve got a friend who wants to read big chunks of books at their computer, send them there!
Finally, I’m trying to decide on what to do next after Earthrise and post-Jokka-trilogy. I have notes for Four Tales and the sequel to Spots and I’m a fourth of the way into the faerie farmer urban fantasy. Choosing between these isn’t an easy decision. Spots has outsold everything I’ve ever done now thanks to the Trouble, but the Ai-Naidari stuff is my most popular with my pre-Space Marine fans. And I’d like to finish up that urban fantasy because it’s a stand-alone and God knows I need a few of those.
So, not sure. Will continue pondering it while I’m finishing up the edits for Godkin 2. I don’t need to make any decisions until after that’s wrapped up and I’ve issued it and the Jokka novels, so I have a few months.
More to come!
